Mickey, a blind dog, believed to have been stolen and let loose on the A590 near Haverthwaite

A SEARCH is under way for blind dog missing in Cumbria.

It is believed Mickey, a blind dog, was stolen from an address in Haverthwaite before being let loose on the A590.

His owners are now appealing for his safe return and have spent the day searching for their pet.

Carol Hall, Mickey’s owner, said: “We are just desperate.

“We went out shopping and we just don’t know how he got out.”

Mickey is described as being a four-year-old cross-breed and is around the size of a corgi.

The incident has been reported to police but Ms Hall said the force are not treating the incident as theft.

A reward of up to £500 has been offered for his safe return and a search is set to get under way for the dog at the Angler’s Arms, in Haverthwaite, from 9.30am on Monday.
