A message came in to the Brevard County Sheriff’s Office (BCSO), and in the early morning hours, Sergeant Jason Knepp, Deputy Lee Roth, Deputy Megan Lane and Deputy Tim Liston responded to the plea for assistance. When they arrived on the scene, they found a very distressed, 170 pound, blind Bull Mastiff, unable to get out of his predicament. Knowing there was no time to lose, and it would require the efforts of all of them, the group quickly jumped into action.

According to reports, the dog was about ten feet from shore. Deputy Roth secured a blanket around the dog and maneuvered him to the shoreline. The other deputies at the scene helped hoist the dog onto land. Authorities say the dog was returned home safely. Recent reports state that the dog was in good spirits, and is now peacefully resting at home with his owners.

Brevard County Sheriff Wayne Ivey posted his thanks to the officers on the BSCO Facebook page, saying, “As a Sheriff, I could not be more proud of our members as this is another perfect example of the great work they do to help protect our community.”
