* #LoveYourPetsEyes – campaign in support of Battersea Dogs & Cats Home |

Vision care experts Lenstore are supporting Battersea Dogs & Cats Home’s campaign to build a new Vet Hospital, which will provide much needed treatment for the many cats and dogs that arrive on their doorstep in need of medical care.

Every year Battersea Dogs & Cats Home cares for over 10,000 dogs and cats. For every single animal that arrives at the Home, the journey to a new life begins with a full medical examination by a Vet or Vet Nurse in the existing Clinic. But space in the current clinic is limited and the busy Vets and Vet Nurses need a new hospital that is clean, efficient and designed so that they can do more life-saving work than ever before.

Lenstore’s support will help Battersea build a new Vet Hospital which will provide vital veterinary care and attention for all the animals that find themselves at the Home through no fault of their own.

Lenstore are supporting Battersea by raising awareness of pet eye health and they have produced a number of articles on some of the most common eye conditions seen by the staff at the Dogs and Cats Home, including cataracts, cherry eye, entropion and conjunctivitis. The articles contain information on the Causes, Symptoms, Diagnosis and Treatment for each condition. Each article also features an easy to follow infographic, which contains all the important information in a user-friendly format.

PEG: People will get a chance to meet ‘Peg the Wonder Dog’ at the show near Stourport.

A ROMANIAN street dog with three legs and one eye has continued to inspire [her] owner to help more dogs in distress and give them loving homes.

Tania Morris of Church Road, Worcester has now become a UK Manager for Angel Watch Rescue & Rehome, the charity which saved Peg, since dubbed ‘the Wonder Dog’.

We have previously reported how Peg is now a world away from the filthy and cramped public shelter in Hunedoara where she suffered from an eye and leg infection without any veterinary help.

Mrs Morris of Worcester said: “We’re continuing to save the lives of the dogs from the streets and shelters of Romania.

“Peg is very much still an ambassador for rescue dogs and due to her appearance has raised a lot of questions and awareness for tripawds, blind dogs and rescues.

“In fact she gets more ‘good mornings’ than I do. She is happy, healthy and going from strength to strength.”

A charity dog show is to take place on Saturday, July 18 which help cover the cost of the charity’s vet bills, foster care for the dogs and food until a new home can be found.

The fundraiser is being held at The Shed Food & Drink, near Stourport on Severn with registration for the show opening at 11am and the first class starting at noon.

The show will also include craft stalls, a barbecue, licensed bar and restaurant, tombola and plenty of parking.

Mrs Morris said: “We currently have 56 dogs in for rehoming at present and several of these have undergone life saving treatment.

“The ‘Angels’ of Angel Watch will be attending the show and we will have a couple of our rescued dogs making a guest appearance (including Peg the Wonder Dog).

“We will also have details of dogs for adoption and can answer any questions that potential adopters might have if they are considering adopting a dog from overseas. We can also advise on fostering a dog or sponsorship.”

The fundraiser has been sponsored by Ambleside Vet Centre and Marlin Rosettes.

The vets will also be judging the show as well as being vets on call for the day.

Mark your calendar, it’s time for the 9th Annual Woofs and Purrs in the Vines at Oak Mountain Winery October 5th with all proceeds going to Cause Fur Paws, Inc helping animals suffering with diabetes. The growing diabetes epidemic is not limited to people—diabetes mellitus is increasing among dogs as well.

Petie was our poster boy and the inspiration for Cause Fur Paws, Inc. A portion of the sales of this wine are donated to Cause Fur Paws

Signs, Symptoms, Diagnosis

Diabetes can be a silent disease. Your veterinarian may discover your dog’s diabetes through routine blood work, but before that, you are likely to notice some of its symptoms: greater than normal hunger and/or thirst, weight loss, and frequent or copious urination (some dogs start having accidents in the house).

At Woof’s and Purr’s in the Vines you will be having food, drinks, music, wine, and our very popular, silent auction and wine auction. Every paid ticket will get a glass of wine or beer, food and admission to their silent auction. This year’s list of donations and sponsors is the biggest in CFP history.

Attendees are welcome to bring their well-behaved, leashed dog to the event. Tickets are available at Tickets are a $35 donation. Cause Fur Paws is a 501c3 nonprofit, tickets are tax deductible. This great fundraiser will be held at Oak Mountain Winery 36522 Via Verde Temecula, Ca 92592 on the De Portola Wine Trail. Hope to see you there.
